Facebook Highlights Sept./Oct. 2012

October 6, 21012

Bob WrightMary Wright, & Mom at the ARA. Working on new jigs & reels. Bob Wright accompanying Anna & Mary Wright on "Call on Me", the song Bob & Rachel Wright sang at Emily Grace Reiner's wedding! We miss Rachel but it was great to have Anna here too. Thanks to Bobby Wright III for getting the lyrics for them on your phone.

Midterm break with Anna! It's so good to have our little Big Girl here for a few days and hear all about her life & friends at RVA. She & Mary did a lovely version of "Count On Me" with dad Bobat Music Night - reminded us of a certain Rachel singing that very song at a certain Emily Grace Reiner's wedding not so long ago...

So thankful for the amazing hospitality of Kampala friends. Sure, the traffic is a bummer, but we still get such a kick out of seeing all the lights of the city from Makindye hill. The dinner at the trendy restaurant was pretty nice too. Tomorrow Bob starts his solar energy conference, and tomorrow evening Annaarrives from RVA! Yay!

The weeders came! Schoolkids from Nakaale, Alamacar, & Naturum Schools worked like crazy in our bean fields for pens and exercise books. They got so much done we ran out of books to pay them with! Thanks to Christopher Verdick & Lodim Tomas for keeping the gang going & sharing the Word with them. People here thanked us all day for promoting child labor in their community. Now if we can keep people from stealing the beans, we'll really have made some progress...

Glad to hear Sunshine Okken & family & friends made it to the tarmac, after only getting stuck once! Safe journey to Mbale & Kampala!

Bob is somehow improved but lying low today. Pray for a good trip through the mud for Pastor David driving down to Mbale today with Sunshine Okken & the kids, Monica Rubingh, & Nurse Heather Foss. Thanks for all your work, Monica, & have a great trip! Also praying for Erika Bulthuis who's flying from California tonight!

Poor old Bob is feeling pretty lousy today. Seems like a bad case of malaria. Fevers every few hours, pain all over...Pray he gets better soon, before the next trip on that road to Mbale!

So glad we made it back to Nakaale on the one dry day we had this week. Rain blasted through this afternoon - you feel like you're in a scene from The Ten Commandments when you stand in our backyard and the wind and rain come down over the mountains. Great to be home - although we keep looking around for Anna and Rachel!

It really is a trip to see our far-away daughters, Rachel in NY and Anna in Kijabe, Kenya, even in somewhat pixellated skype images, and for Mary & Kipsy to get to talk with the Proctor girls in Virginia! Mbale's just the hub of the universe, I guess. Pray for a dry night & dry road to Nakaale tomorrow!

After a short delay, the Tuiningas container is here and is unloaded into the house... Thank you all for helping carry boxes, and look after the younger kids. — with Bobby Wright III and 10 othersBut then it got stuck across the street. Can you believe Bob Wright's little truck could get it out of the mud?

Being stuck in Mbale isn't so bad. Such nice people in the market! Kipsy & Mary Wright found some great bargains on jeans, we got Bobby's clothes sewn, had hilarious conversations with all sorts of people, and got some killer videos in Kiswahili & Karimojong.

Standing by in Mbale to hear when Eric & Dianna Pohl Tuininga's shipping container will be crossing the border...Looks like we're not going to make it to Kampala after all, so we'll enjoy Mbale. Sorry, KLA folks - hope to see you another time!
